Alabama college student shot and killed by another student

Montgomery, Alabama, police arrested a 20-year-old man for the shooting death of an Alabama State University student whose body was found Monday after he was reported missing on September 8, Alabama News reported.

Adam “Belle” Dowdell, 22, was a second year student at the historically black university who was reported missing when he failed to return to his dorm room after going out to get money from an ATM, as CrimeOnline previously reported.

Ivry Hall has been charged with murder, Montgomery Police Capt Saba Coleman said. Hall, a junior at ASU, was taken into custody on Friday, the Montgomery Advertiser said.

Dowdell’s mother, Toya Cohill, said that her son talked with someone in the family nearly every day, so when friends contacted her on September 9 to say they hadn’t heard from him, and no one else in the family had either, she headed to Montgomery from her home in Alabaster.

Coleman did not provide details of the circumstances of Dowdell’s death except to say he’d been fatally shot. His body was found Monday afternoon just two blocks from the ASU campus, the Advertiser said.
