Cops File Kidnapping And Murder Charges Against ‘Person Of Interest’ In Atlanta Bartender’s Shooting Death

Police say they plan to charge Demarcus Brinkley with the kidnapping and murder of Atlanta bartender Mariam Abdulrab early Friday morning.

Abdulrab, 27, was found shot to death just a few miles from her home after neighbors reported seeing her forced into a vehicle at gunpoint at around 5 a.m. She had just returned home from her job at Revelry VR bar.

Brinkley, 27, was arrested several hours later, after Atlanta police had named him a person of interest in Abdulrab’s death, as CrimeOnline previously reported. Georgia state troopers placed him under arrest on traffic charges after he led them on a high speed chase and then crashed in Griffin, south of Atlanta.

The suspect was flown to Atlanta Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition, WSB reported. He’ll be taken to Fulton County Jail once he’s released from the hospital.

Atlanta police said on Saturday they had obtained warrants charging Brinkley with murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
