Two people suffered life-threatening injuries after a motorcycle crash at Milwaukee’s Zoo Interchange on Wednesday evening, prompting a lengthy road closure while investigators examined the scene.
According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 7 p.m. on July 15 to reports of a motorcycle crash on the southbound U.S. 41 ramp leading to eastbound Interstate 94 at the Zoo Interchange.
Emergency responders from the Milwaukee Fire Department also arrived at the scene and provided medical assistance before transporting both victims to Froedtert Hospital with traumatic injuries.
Victims’ Conditions Worsened
Authorities initially reported that the male motorcycle rider was in critical condition, while the female passenger was listed in stable condition.
However, in an updated statement later Wednesday night, the sheriff’s office confirmed that both victims are now in critical, life-threatening condition.
Officials have not released the identities or ages of the injured individuals.
Investigation Underway
Due to the seriousness of the crash, the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Unit was called to the scene to carefully document evidence and determine what caused the collision.
Investigators spent several hours examining the crash site as part of the ongoing investigation.
At this time, authorities have not disclosed what led to the motorcycle crash, and it remains unclear whether any other vehicles were involved.

Motorists were advised to use alternate routes while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene.
The ramp has since reopened to traffic after the investigation at the crash site was completed.
