75-Year-Old Volunteer Shot While Distributing Food in East Point, Police Seek Suspect

Authorities have identified the 75-year-old woman who was shot while volunteering at a community food distribution event in East Point, as investigators continue searching for the person responsible.

The victim has been identified as Dorothy Gordon, 75, who was helping distribute food to people in need when gunfire broke out on Wednesday morning, according to the East Point Police Department.

Shooting Happened During Community Food Distribution

Police said officers responded shortly after 9 a.m. to reports of a shooting in the 3800 block of Washington Road.

When officers arrived, they found Gordon lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound.

Emergency medical personnel provided aid at the scene before transporting her to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released an update on her current medical condition.

Victim Was Helping Others When Gunfire Erupted

According to investigators, Gordon was actively participating in an outdoor food distribution event, providing assistance to members of the community, when multiple gunshots were fired in the area.
