A mother of four and healthcare worker from DeKalb County has been identified as the victim of a deadly shooting earlier this month, and her on-again, off-again boyfriend has been arrested in connection with the case.
Authorities said Brandy Bess was found dead inside a DeKalb County home after officers responded to reports of a shooting in the early morning hours of July 12.
Police Find Woman Dead After Early Morning Shooting
According to investigators, officers were called to a residence on Hambrick Road around 2 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
When police arrived, they found Bess suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family members later identified the victim as Bess, a nurse and mother of four who had ties to the Omaha, Nebraska, area.
Boyfriend Arrested on Murder Charge
Shortly after the shooting, authorities located and arrested Anthony Ware.
Ware was taken into custody and booked into the DeKalb County Jail, where he is being held on a murder charge.
Officials said Ware is being held without bond as the case moves forward.
Family Says Couple Had On-and-Off Relationship
Bess’ family told KETV that she and Ware had been in an on-again, off-again relationship for about a year.
Relatives said Ware, who was also from the Omaha area, frequently traveled to Georgia to visit Bess.
Family members described Bess as a loving mother and a dedicated healthcare worker whose death has left loved ones devastated.
Investigation Continues
Authorities have not released additional details about what led to the shooting or what may have caused the deadly confrontation.
The investigation remains active as detectives continue gathering evidence and working to determine the circumstances surrounding Bess’ death.
Bess’ family and friends are mourning the loss of a woman they said was deeply loved by her children, relatives, and community.
