A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed Saturday evening after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing on Chicago’s North Side, according to police.
The fatal crash happened shortly after 7:20 p.m. in the 2200 block of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, authorities said.
Police reported that the man was riding a motorcycle northbound when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a barrier along the roadway. The impact caused him to fall over the barrier and into the southbound lanes, where he was struck by another vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found the motorcyclist suffering from multiple injuries. He was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital for treatment, but he later died from his injuries.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of family members.
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was not immediately identified, and police have not released additional details about possible contributing factors.
The Chicago Police Department’s Major Accidents Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Investigators are working to determine exactly what caused the motorcyclist to lose control and how the collision unfolded.
