Firefighters contained a vegetation fire in North Auburn on Sunday after the blaze forced officials to issue evacuation orders and warnings for parts of Placer County.
The fire, known as the Roble Fire, was reported near the intersection of Atwood Road and Mount Vernon Road, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office and Cal Fire.
As flames spread through the vegetation area, authorities ordered mandatory evacuations for residents on Vista Roble Drive and Bean Road. Officials also issued an evacuation warning for people living along Kemper Road, advising residents to remain prepared to leave if conditions worsened.
A temporary evacuation center was established at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church on Atwood Road to provide a location for residents who were displaced or needed assistance during the emergency.
Fire crews quickly responded to the area and worked to slow the fire’s growth. By approximately 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Cal Fire reported that the blaze had burned an estimated 2 to 3 acres and that firefighters had successfully stopped its forward movement.
Crews remained on scene to search for and extinguish any possible spot fires and to ensure the area was safe.
After firefighters gained control of the situation, all evacuation orders and warnings were lifted shortly before 6:30 p.m., allowing residents to return to their homes.
Officials have not reported any injuries or significant property damage from the fire.
The cause of the Roble Fire remains under investigation, and authorities have not released any additional details about what may have started the blaze.
