North Carolina woman dies after getting hit by car and dragged 100 feet

The victim, identified as Mary Albrecht, was dragged about 100 feet on Friday after tripping over a speed bump and getting hit by a car at Duke Raleigh Hospital, local news station WTVD reported.

The driver was unable to see Albrecht when the vehicle hit her at about 3:15 p.m. local time.

Albrecht, who was from the town of Angier, had parked her car in a handicapped spot near the scene of the collision at the medical center in Raleigh, N.C.

She died from undisclosed injuries that she suffered from being struck by the vehicle, Raleigh police said, according to WTVD.

The driver, who has not been publicly identified, began making a u-turn toward a ramp to the garage’s bottom floor when the collision occurred, according to police.
