Teen Butchers 2 Women To Death As Sacrifice To ‘Demon’ For Lottery Win
Danyal Hussein, of Eltham, was found guilty by a unanimous jury of killing 46-year-old Bibaa Henry and 27-year-old Nicole Smallman in Wembley’s Fryent Country Park in the early hours of June 6 last year, London’s Metropolitan Police Service said in a statement released Tuesday.
Additionally, Hussein’s four-week trial in the Central Criminal Court of England and Wales also found him guilty of possession of an offensive weapon.
According to police, Hussein murdered the two complete strangers in a pre-meditated attack that had been part of a written agreement he had with a supposed demon to sacrifice women in exchange for winning the U.K.’s Mega Millions lottery, among other things.
“Hussein went out that night with the intention of killing in order to satisfy his bizarre fantasies under the deluded belief he would be rewarded with financial prosperity,” detective chief inspector Simon Harding was quoted as saying in the police statement.
The exact circumstances of the murders remain unclear, but it was revealed that Henry — who had been celebrating her 46th birthday with her sister that night — was stabbed eight times, police said. Smallman, meanwhile, received a total of 28 stab wounds as well as a number of cuts to her arms, hands and legs.
Police were able to track Hussein following an investigation aided by the National Crime Agency, which involved reviewing several sources of surveillance footage and matching DNA profiles.
Hussein was arrested in his Guy Barnet Grove residence in the early hours of July 1, and his DNA was confirmed to be the same as the one left behind in the murder scene, police said. He also had injuries that matched what police believed the assailant would have received during the attack.
Following his arrest, officers searched Hussein’s bedroom and discovered a handwritten note that appeared to be a contract between Hussein and a so-called demon, the police statement said.
“For the mighty king Lucifuge Rofocale,” read the top of the note, the BBC reported. Some Satanic cults said Rofocale is the demon in charge of hell’s government and treasure, according to the outlet.
The pact’s conditions were that Hussein had to “perform a minimum of six sacrifices every six months” and that the teen had to “sacrifice only women,” according to police. The document, which had been signed with Hussein’s blood, then read “Win the Mega Millions Super Jackpot” under the “For Me” section.
According to police, Hussein initially claimed he had suffered from autism and memory loss upon being arrested in July. He continues to deny any involvement in the murders despite the “overwhelming” evidence to disprove him, the statement said.
Investigators claimed Hussein underwent “a form of radicalization” that involved exposure to occult material on the dark web, a report by The Guardian said. They also believe he would have gone on to kill more women had he not injured his hand in the attack on Henry and Smallman.
Hussein is scheduled to appear again before the Central Criminal Court of England and Wales on Sept. 22 for sentencing, according to the police statement.
