Two men have been arrested in connection with a Roseland shooting that left a man hospitalized last month, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the arrests were the result of a joint investigation involving the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) and the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO).
Investigators identified 19-year-old D’Marvin Williams and 23-year-old Dedrian Batiste as suspects in the case. Williams was taken into custody in Baton Rouge after detectives developed information about his possible location.
According to authorities, TPSO detectives provided intelligence to the EBRSO Gang Intelligence and Enforcement Unit, which helped investigators locate Williams at a residence in Baton Rouge.
Members of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office Homicide Division, SCAT Division, SWAT Team and Narcotics Division then carried out the operation and arrested Williams. Officials said he was taken into custody at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison as a fugitive from Tangipahoa Parish.
Williams is facing a charge of attempted second-degree murder in connection with the Roseland shooting.
During the investigation and arrest operation, authorities said they recovered multiple weapons and other suspected evidence. Items seized included a Century Arms RAS47 rifle, a Ruger RXM 9mm pistol equipped with a conversion switch, suspected cocaine, a Glock extended magazine, firearm triggers, a rifle scope and ammunition.
Investigators also arrested Batiste, who was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail. He faces one count of accessory to attempted second-degree murder.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
Authorities emphasized that the case remains active, and investigators from both agencies are continuing efforts to gather evidence and determine whether other individuals may have been involved.
Officials credited the cooperation between multiple law enforcement divisions for helping locate the suspects and move the investigation forward. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said they will continue working together as the case progresses.
