Police in Forney, Texas, are searching for two suspects after a deadly shooting that investigators believe was a targeted attack.
The shooting happened Sunday at a home in the 300 block of Eagle Ridge, according to the Forney Police Department. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and found one person dead at the scene.
Authorities said their initial investigation indicates the shooting was not random and appears to have been directed at the victim. Police have not yet released the identity of the person who was killed or provided additional details about a possible motive.
Two Suspects Identified by Police
Investigators are looking for two suspects believed to be connected to the fatal shooting.
Police said the suspects were last seen in the area around Eagle Ridge, Van Buren and Cisco. Authorities described the first suspect as a Black man approximately 6 feet to 6 feet 1 inch tall. He was reportedly wearing all black clothing at the time of the incident.
The second suspect was described as a tall, lighter-skinned Black man who was wearing a gray shirt and a black mask.
Police have not released names or additional identifying information about either suspect as the investigation remains active.
Residents Were Initially Told to Shelter Inside
Following the shooting, Forney police urged residents in the surrounding area to remain inside while officers searched for the suspects.
Authorities later said they believe the suspects left the area shortly after the shooting and that there was no longer an immediate threat to nearby residents.
“The area search for the suspects has ceased as we do believe they left the area quickly after the incident,” Forney police said in a statement. “However, we are diligently working to identify and locate the suspect(s).”
Police said residents could return to normal activities but asked the public to avoid the crime scene because the investigation was still ongoing.
Investigation Continues
Officers remain focused on collecting evidence, identifying the suspects and determining the circumstances that led to the deadly shooting.
Authorities have not provided further information about the victim, including age or relationship to the suspects.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting or the whereabouts of the suspects to contact investigators.
The case remains under investigation, and additional details are expected as police continue their work.
