According to the Nassau County Police Department, Rose Yee, 68, was taken into custody following the incident at her residence in Valley Stream, New York, on Monday evening.

She has been charged with two counts of menacing and three counts of criminal contempt.

Police Responded to a Domestic Disturbance

Officers were dispatched to the home at approximately 8:40 p.m. after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance.

Investigators said Yee was involved in a verbal argument with a 68-year-old man who was already protected by an active order of protection issued against her.

Authorities have not disclosed the exact relationship between Yee and the man.

Man Says Lit Matches Were Thrown During Argument

According to police, the confrontation intensified, and Yee allegedly became increasingly angry during the dispute.

The man told investigators that Yee threw lit matches at him as the argument escalated.

Police said the victim was not physically injured.

Clothing Allegedly Set on Fire

Investigators further allege that after throwing the lit matches, Yee threatened to burn the house down.

Police said she then set an item of clothing on fire and threw the burning clothing in front of the residence.

Authorities did not report any damage to the home or surrounding property, and no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

Woman Arrested and Taken to Hospital

Yee was arrested at the scene without incident.

Following her arrest, officers transported her to a hospital for medical evaluation before she was processed on the criminal charges.

Facing Multiple Criminal Charges

According to police, Yee has been charged with:

  • Two counts of menacing
  • Three counts of criminal contempt

Investigators said the criminal contempt charges relate to alleged violations of the existing court-issued order of protection involving the same man.

Previous Arrests Listed in Court Records

Online court records show that Yee had previously been arrested on May 27 and July 3, with both earlier cases also involving allegations of criminal contempt.

Police have not released further details about those previous incidents.

Defendant Pleads Not Guilty
