More than two years after two friends were fatally shot following a night out in Indianapolis, police have arrested a 24-year-old man accused of carrying out the deadly attack.
Noah Brimmage, 24, has been charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of Olivia Katherine Brown, 24, and Darian Jamar Wiley, 27, according to court records. He also faces charges of robbery resulting in bodily injury, three counts of battery with a deadly weapon, and criminal recklessness.
Victims Were Returning to Their Cars
According to investigators, the shootings occurred on May 6, 2023, near 21st Street in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Police said Brown and Wiley had spent the evening together before returning to the neighborhood where Wiley lived. After parking his vehicle, Wiley walked Brown to her own car.
Surveillance footage later reviewed by investigators allegedly showed two individuals following the pair as they walked.
A nearby resident told investigators the suspects were moving quickly behind Brown and Wiley before gunfire suddenly erupted.
Woman Shot While Trying to Escape
Authorities said Wiley was shot first and collapsed in the street.
A witness recalled hearing multiple gunshots before finding Wiley lying face down on the roadway.
Brown reportedly managed to reach her vehicle and got inside in an attempt to drive away. However, investigators said she was also shot before she could escape and died from her injuries.
Families Waited Years for an Arrest
The killings remained unsolved for more than two years, leaving the victims’ families searching for answers.
Brown’s sister, Hannah Carter, described the emotional toll of waiting for justice, saying it was difficult not knowing whether anyone would ever be held accountable and fearing that people would eventually forget both victims.
That changed this week when authorities announced Brimmage’s arrest.
Investigators have not said whether additional arrests are expected, and it remains unclear whether the second person seen in surveillance footage has been identified or charged.
Investigators Tie Suspect to Other Crimes
According to the probable cause affidavit, investigators believe Brimmage may have been connected to several other violent crimes committed around the same time as the double homicide.
Those allegations reportedly include:
- Driving a getaway vehicle during another shooting less than a day after the killings.
- Setting a house and a vehicle on fire.
- Firing shots at people attempting to flee.
Those allegations are separate from the murder charges but were included in court documents supporting the investigation.
Already Serving Time in Prison
Court records indicate Brimmage previously pleaded guilty to arson and criminal recklessness in a separate case.
He is currently serving a prison sentence for those convictions while the newly filed murder case proceeds through the court system.
Victims Remembered for Their Lives and Passions
Friends and family remembered Olivia Katherine Brown as a caring therapist who loved helping others. Her obituary described her interests as including cats, fitness, vacations, shopping, reading, cooking, tattoos, and spending time with loved ones. Those who knew her said she embraced life with energy and compassion.
Darian Jamar Wiley was remembered as someone who loved music, enjoyed learning to play the guitar, played golf, and was known for making people laugh. His obituary described him as the life of the party who always brought joy to those around him.
Investigation Continues
With Brimmage now facing multiple felony charges, prosecutors will move forward with the homicide case while investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding the double shooting.
Authorities have not released additional information about a possible second suspect, and the case remains active as court proceedings continue.
