An 18-year-old woman has been arrested and charged after police say she participated in an armed robbery outside a convenience store in Memphis, where two victims were threatened at gunpoint, and one had her phone stolen.
According to the Memphis Police Department, Mary’Una O. Campbell, 18, is facing charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated assault in connection with the incident.
Robbery Happened Outside Hickory Hill Store
The robbery occurred at approximately 3 p.m. on Saturday in the parking lot of Winchester Market, located at 6326 Winchester Road in the Hickory Hill area.
Police said a female victim and another individual were leaving the convenience store when they were approached by three suspects—a man, a woman, and another woman later identified as Mary’Una Campbell.
Investigators said the suspects first confirmed the identity of the female victim before carrying out the robbery.
Gunman Threatened the Victims
According to police, one of the suspects, a man, pulled out a handgun and ordered both victims not to move.
The female victim told officers the armed suspect threatened her by saying:
“I’ll blow this b**** up. I don’t got nothing to lose.”
Police said the threat was made while the victims were being held at gunpoint.
Phone Stolen and Money Demanded
While the male suspect allegedly threatened the victims with the firearm, investigators said Campbell and the second female suspect took the victim’s iPhone 11.
Police also said the suspects demanded money through the victim’s Cash App account during the robbery.
After taking the phone and attempting to obtain money, the three suspects fled the area in a black van.
Victims Identified the Suspect
During the investigation, detectives conducted identification procedures with the victims.
On July 14, both the female victim and the second victim positively identified Mary’Una Campbell as one of the individuals involved in the armed robbery, according to police.
Police Say Campbell Contacted Victim’s Family
Following the robbery, investigators learned that the female victim’s relative allegedly received text messages from Campbell.
According to Memphis police, Campbell reportedly asked the relative not to pursue criminal charges related to the case.
Authorities did not release additional details about the messages.
Charges and Court Appearance
Campbell was arrested and charged with:
- Aggravated robbery
- Aggravated assault
She is currently being held on a $150,000 bond.
Court records show Campbell is scheduled to make her first court appearance on Friday.
Investigation Continues
The Memphis Police Department continues to investigate the robbery. Authorities have not released the identities of the other two suspects, and it remains unclear whether additional arrests will be made.
As with all criminal cases, the charges against Campbell are allegations, and she is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
