Two people were seriously injured Sunday evening after a vehicle crashed into pedestrians during an illegal street takeover event in the North Hills neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley, authorities said.
The collision happened around 5:55 p.m. at the intersection of Plummer Street and Haskell Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), which responded to the scene.
Car Plows Into Crowd During Street Takeover
Video from the scene captured the moment a vehicle suddenly struck two pedestrians during the gathering. The footage showed the car crashing into the victims, causing one person to be thrown to the ground and lose consciousness.
The second victim suffered a severe leg injury, with video from the incident showing the extent of the injuries caused by the impact.
Officials said both victims suffered serious injuries and required emergency medical treatment.
Driver Fled the Scene
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said the driver involved in the crash left the area immediately after hitting the pedestrians.
Authorities described the vehicle as a black sedan, based on information gathered from the scene and video evidence.
Police have not released any information about the driver’s identity or whether investigators have located the vehicle.
Victims Taken to Hospital
Both injured pedestrians were transported to a hospital for treatment.
Police confirmed that at least one of the victims suffered severe injuries. No further details about their current conditions have been released.
