A driver is in critical condition after a high-speed crash sent a vehicle into a hotel parking lot on Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia early Sunday morning, according to police.
The crash happened at approximately 2:45 a.m. in the 7600 block of Roosevelt Boulevard, authorities said.
Driver Lost Control of Vehicle
Police said a 30-year-old man driving a gold Acura was traveling at a high rate of speed when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle.
The Acura left the roadway and crashed into the parking lot of the Roosevelt Inn, where it slammed into a parked vehicle.
The force of the collision caused extensive damage and sent debris flying toward the hotel building.
Crash Damaged Hotel Entrance
Authorities said the impact was so severe that pieces from the crash struck the motel structure, breaking the building’s glass entrance door and a nearby window.
The parked vehicle involved in the crash also suffered major damage, while the hotel sustained significant structural and property damage.
No information was immediately released about whether anyone inside the building was injured.
Driver Rushed to Hospital
Emergency medical crews responded to the scene and transported the Acura driver to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital.
Police said the man was listed in critical condition following the crash.
The condition of the driver remained serious as investigators continued reviewing the circumstances that led to the collision.
Investigation Underway
Authorities have not released additional details about why the driver lost control or whether speed was the only factor involved.
