One person was taken into custody after a police pursuit involving a vehicle wanted in connection with a Milwaukee shooting investigation, authorities said.
The pursuit began Friday evening when deputies with the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop the vehicle near East Meinecke Avenue and North Richards Street at approximately 7:30 p.m.
According to officials, the vehicle was being sought as part of an investigation by the Milwaukee Police Department into a shooting. Deputies followed the vehicle as the pursuit continued through the area.
The chase eventually came to an end near North 13th Street and West Center Street after Milwaukee police assisted with the operation. Authorities used tire-deflation devices known as Stop Sticks to bring the vehicle to a stop.
After the vehicle stopped, officers discovered that four children were inside the car. Officials did not report any injuries involving the children or anyone else during the pursuit.
The driver was taken into custody without further incident, according to law enforcement.
Authorities have not released the identity of the person arrested or provided additional details about the shooting investigation connected to the vehicle.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office and Milwaukee Police Department continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case. Further information is expected as officials review evidence and determine any additional charges that may be filed.
