A 17-year-old girl and two young men were injured in a late-night shooting outside a McDonald’s restaurant in Brooklyn, according to the New York City Police Department. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, and no arrests have been made.
The shooting occurred just before midnight on Monday in the parking lot of the McDonald’s located on Pennsylvania Avenue near Stanley Avenue in the New Lots section of Brooklyn.
Teen Girl Shot Multiple Times
Police said the 17-year-old girl was struck several times when gunfire erupted in the restaurant’s parking lot.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after reports of shots fired and found the teenage victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her body.
She was transported to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition and is expected to recover.
Two Young Men Also Injured
Authorities said a 19-year-old man was also wounded during the shooting after being struck by a bullet in the face.
An 18-year-old man sustained a minor facial injury after falling to the ground while trying to escape the gunfire. Police said his injury was not caused by a gunshot but occurred during the chaotic moments following the shooting.
Both men were taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center for treatment. Officials said all three victims are expected to survive.
Police Investigating the Shooting
Detectives remained at the scene for several hours collecting evidence and interviewing potential witnesses.
As of the latest update, investigators have not identified or arrested any suspects, and the motive behind the shooting has not been released.
Police continue to search for information that could help determine what led to the gunfire.
White SUV Examined by Investigators
During the investigation, officers focused on a white Honda Pilot parked in the McDonald’s parking lot.
Video from the scene showed the SUV with what appeared to be a bullet hole in the front windshield as well as a bloodstain above the rear bumper.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the vehicle belonged to one of the victims or how it was connected to the shooting, but investigators examined it as part of the ongoing investigation.
Incident Comes Amid Concerns Over Youth Violence
The shooting comes as New York City officials continue to express concern over an increase in gun violence involving young people.
Earlier this month, city officials noted a rise in shootings committed by juveniles, prompting renewed efforts by law enforcement to address youth-related violent crime.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to come forward as detectives continue working to identify those responsible.
