A woman accused of bringing dangerous drugs into Mohawk Correctional Facility in New York has failed to appear in court once again, prompting authorities to continue searching for her.
Shondrea Taylor, of Syracuse, did not appear for a scheduled hearing in Oneida County Court, marking her second missed court appearance in connection with the case.
Second Court No-Show
According to court officials, Taylor has been sought by law enforcement for nearly two weeks.
Her latest absence follows an earlier missed court appearance on July 14, when she failed to appear as ordered.
After that no-show, Oneida County Judge Michael Nolan issued a bench warrant for her arrest.
Authorities said Taylor had also previously failed to appear in Rome City Court, adding to the ongoing efforts to locate her.
Allegations of Bringing Drugs Into Prison
Taylor is accused of bringing illegal drugs into Mohawk Correctional Facility, a state prison located in Oneida County.
The incident became especially serious after two female correctional officers were reportedly exposed to the suspected substances while performing their duties.
Two Correctional Officers Hospitalized
Following the exposure, both correctional officers required emergency medical treatment.
According to officials:
- Both officers were transported to a hospital.
- One officer’s condition became so severe that she was placed on a ventilator while receiving treatment.
- The officers later received medical care for the exposure-related effects.
Authorities have not released additional details about their current conditions.
Laboratory Testing Identified Multiple Drugs
Laboratory analysis of the seized substances reportedly found a combination of several illegal and dangerous drugs.
According to investigators, the material contained:
- Cocaine
- Ketamine
- PCP (phencyclidine), also known as angel dust
- Synthetic cannabinoids, often considered particularly dangerous because of their unpredictable and potentially severe health effects.
Officials have not disclosed how the drugs were allegedly introduced into the correctional facility or whether additional charges may be filed.
Bench Warrant Remains Active
Because of Taylor’s repeated failures to appear in court, the bench warrant issued by Judge Michael Nolan remains active.
Law enforcement agencies continue searching for her, and authorities are urging anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact the appropriate law enforcement agency.
