A woman was found fatally injured inside a Santa Monica apartment building over the weekend, and authorities are investigating her death as a homicide.
The incident happened Saturday evening at a building in the 1900 block of Pico Boulevard, near Santa Monica College, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.
Officers were called to the location at approximately 5:21 p.m. after receiving a report of a woman who needed medical assistance.
Victim Found With Severe Injuries
When police arrived, they found the woman suffering from significant injuries. Despite emergency responders’ efforts to save her life, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity or additional personal information.
Police said the investigation is being handled as a homicide due to the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

Neighbors said the victim had only moved into the building about two weeks earlier before she was found unresponsive.
They told authorities that she was discovered after an alleged attack inside a communal bathroom shared by residents.

Police confirmed that a man was taken into custody Saturday night in connection with the woman’s death.
The Santa Monica Police Department said investigators are not currently searching for any additional suspects.
