A Florida man has been arrested after authorities accused him of fatally shooting another man and livestreaming the aftermath of the incident on Facebook.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office announced that 42-year-old Gedeonson Hyacinthe was taken into custody on Wednesday. He has been charged with second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and two counts of drug possession.
Shooting Investigated as Homicide
The charges stem from a fatal shooting that occurred on April 14, 2025, in the Pine Manor community of Lee County, Florida.
Deputies responded to reports of gunfire and found an unidentified man who had suffered fatal gunshot wounds. According to investigators, Hyacinthe was standing over the victim when officers arrived at the scene.
Hyacinthe reportedly told deputies that he and the victim had been involved in a verbal dispute that escalated before the shooting occurred.
Argument Turned Physical
According to the sheriff’s office, the confrontation began at an intersection in Pine Manor, where the two men argued before the dispute became physical.
Investigators said the men “tussled” during the altercation. Hyacinthe claimed the victim was shot while they were fighting.
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased man.
Facebook Live Broadcast After Shooting
Investigators allege that immediately after the shooting, Hyacinthe pulled out his cellphone and began broadcasting live on Facebook Live.
According to the sheriff’s office, he discussed the events leading up to the shooting with viewers while filming from the roadway. Detectives also said he turned the camera toward the active crime scene, showing the aftermath of the fatal incident during the livestream.
Initially Questioned Before Later Arrest
Following the shooting, Hyacinthe was detained at the scene and taken in for questioning as detectives from the Major Crimes Unit investigated the case.
Authorities said he was not kept in custody at that time, though the sheriff’s office did not explain why.
On Wednesday, investigators with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Warrants Unit located Hyacinthe and arrested him without incident.
Additional Charges Filed
Along with the murder charge, Hyacinthe is also facing:
- Two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm
- Two counts of drug possession
He is currently being held at the Lee County Jail without bond.
Court Appearance Scheduled
Hyacinthe is scheduled to appear in court on August 17, where he will face the charges stemming from the fatal shooting and the additional criminal allegations.
