Baton Rouge police are investigating two separate shootings that left two people seriously injured Sunday afternoon in different parts of the city.
The incidents occurred less than an hour apart, prompting separate investigations by the Baton Rouge Police Department.
First Shooting Leaves One Person Seriously Hurt
The first shooting happened around 2:45 p.m. Sunday along Gus Young Avenue, near Ragusa’s Meat Market, according to sources.
Emergency crews responded to reports of gunfire and found one person suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where officials said the person was listed in serious condition. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity or provided additional information about what led to the shooting.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Woman Injured in Second Shooting
Less than an hour later, at approximately 3:30 p.m., police received reports of another shooting on North Ardenwood Drive.
However, investigators later determined that the shooting actually occurred on Blueberry Street, near a BREC park, with the victim later located in the North Ardenwood Drive area.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, the victim, an adult woman, suffered a gunshot wound to her upper torso.
Emergency medical personnel transported her to a local hospital, where she was reported to be in serious condition.
Investigations Remain Active
Investigators are working to determine what led to both shootings and whether any suspects have been identified. At this time, police have not indicated that the two incidents are connected.
Authorities have also not released information regarding possible motives, arrests, or descriptions of any suspects involved in either case.
